More than just SharePoint: The software solution that makes board assurance easier and stripes out unnecessary administrative costs

20th November, 2009, Newbury, UK.  eShare have today announced the release of eShare 2010, the latest evolution of eShare’s widely used Board Assurance tool for Health Trusts.  eShare 2010 turns SharePoint into a sophisticated and ‘ready to use’ tool for managing all aspects of board assurance and meeting management.

With eShare 2010 trusts are able to manage every board assurance process, and at the same time reduce the administrative burden so often associated with these activities.  The system also provides a clear and simple way to demonstrate compliance.  There are fast becoming no more excuses for poor board assurance, poor reporting and excessive administrative costs.

While a large percentage of health Trusts, following the enterprise wide agreement with Connecting for Health in May 2004 now have SharePoint, few have actually implemented effective solutions on the platform.  SharePoint requires significant development to turn it into a deployable solution.  Much time needs to be spent creating a specification, and often the resource and skills simply aren’t available in-house to undertake this work. Worse can be the case that significant time has been spent, with associated cost of resource, yet is still to deliver.

eShare has been developing on the SharePoint platform since its inception, being the first Microsoft partner to be awarded the Microsoft “Software as a Service” competency.  eShare 2010 is the next generation of an established and proven Board Assurance tool already in use with over 160 customers across Healthcare, Pensions, Education and Charities.  eShare’s experienced and dedicated team of SharePoint specialists continually develop updates, new features and new modules.

“Attempting SharePoint in-house development is simply a far bigger task than many IT teams anticipate, nor is it a cost-effective or future proof option.” said Alister Esam, Managing Director, eShare.  “The Trusts we are engaged with are doing so because they recognise that they gain significantly more value from taking a solution such as eShare that has been specifically developed to manage every aspect of board assurance and meeting management.”

eShare 2010 assists those actually managing the board assurance workload, whether it be meeting management, maintaining an active policies register, ensuring all processes are accessible and are demonstrably followed, or storing critical documents in an central, searchable, version control store.   The administration required for all such tasks is simplified, information becomes easier to access and scrutinise, and an audit trail proving that certain processes and policies are actively followed is facilitated.

“Many Trusts are looking at ways to strip out administrative costs and at the same time want to ensure they can demonstrate that certain standards are being met, such as the CQC requirements” said Esam, “they are increasingly turning to solutions such as eShare that can deliver on both these requirements, without recourse to expensive and time-consuming in-house development.”
